Help Juan Ibarra Get Life-Saving Neurosurgery

Hi, my name is Yahaira Ibarra. I’m starting this fundraiser with my niece to support my brother, Juan Ibarra, who has just been rushed into emergency neurosurgery in Mexico.

Earlier today, I came home from work to devastating news from my father: my brother had been admitted to the emergency room after suffering multiple seizures. For the past few months, our mother has been in Mexico taking care of Juan, as he’s been dealing with worsening health. Over the past three weeks, he had been telling her about intense headaches and dizziness, but none of us expected the situation to escalate so severely.

Last night, the seizures began, one after another. He was rushed to the hospital and is now undergoing emergency neurosurgery. Doctors have informed us that Juan has a blood clot in his brain — an ischemic stroke — which is blocking blood flow and depriving his brain of oxygen and nutrients. It’s a terrifying and overwhelming moment for all of us.

These medical expenses have come as a complete surprise to us. Because Juan is being treated in another country, the hospital requires full payment for the surgery up front — there's no time to wait and no way forward without immediate help.
