Help Juan, His Wife, and Baby Ophelia Find a Home

On Saturday, September 20th, I met a young man named Juan. He’s just 21 years old, married to his 22-year-old wife, and together they have a three-month-old baby girl named Ophelia.

Right now, life has been incredibly hard for them. Juan’s wife and baby are staying at Father Joe’s shelter in San Diego, while Juan himself is out on the streets. When I first met him, he was grateful for the food and supplies I could share, but what struck me most was his determination and faith—he kept saying he just wanted to work and provide for his family again.

Juan used to work as a line cook, and he’s eager to find any restaurant job, or really any job downtown. Despite everything, he hasn’t lost his hope. That spirit deserves a chance.

Their Journey

This week, I was able to reconnect with Juan through his wife’s phone (they can only use it when Wi-Fi is available). We went to Walmart together, where I helped him pick up work clothes, shoes, diapers, and other baby essentials. Later, we met his wife and baby at Father Joe’s and handed her the supplies. Seeing little Ophelia smile in her mother’s arms reminded me why this matters so much. This family deserves stability, dignity, and a safe place of their own.

The Goal

We are raising $1,500 to help Juan, his wife, and baby Ophelia get into a home of their own. This amount will go directly toward move-in costs, basic living essentials, and giving them the chance to start fresh.

This isn’t just about money—it’s about giving a young family a fair shot at rebuilding their lives with hope and stability. Juan is ready to work, and I am also looking for any job leads for him in the downtown San Diego area.

How You Can Help

Donate what you can. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings Juan’s family closer to a safe home.

$25 provides diapers and baby essentials for Ophelia.
$50 helps buy food and transportation so Juan can keep applying for jobs.
$100 moves them closer to covering a security deposit and safe housing.

Share this campaign. The more people who see their story, the greater the impact.

Offer connections. If you are aware of restaurant job openings or resources for employment opportunities in downtown San Diego, please don't hesitate to reach out.

A Future of Hope

Juan told me, “I pray every day that God brings us back together and keeps my little girl safe.” His faith gives him strength through these trials. With your kindness, we can help answer that prayer and give this young family the chance for a fresh start filled with hope."

Please donate today to help Juan, his wife, and baby Ophelia find a home.
