We are reaching out during a deep and important time for our dear friend Juan.

We know Juan for his generosity, kindness, love, and unwavering support for all those around him.

Juan is a beacon of light in our lives.

His warmth, generosity and joy bring brightness to us all.

Juan is facing one of the most challenging moments anyone can face in life.

We are reaching out requesting your help & support for him during this difficult time.

Juan’s Courageous Challenge:

Last November, Juan received a life-threatening diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma on his left eye.

The eye cancer progressed to the point that, to save his life, surgery to completely remove his left eye and surrounding tissue was the only option, therefore preventing metastasis to occur due to the cancer aggressive growth.

He now has a remarkable team of doctors that care deeply for his success at an amazing medical center in Denver.

There will need to be substantial adjustments in his life with only one eye.

Including:

• Juan will be out of work for approximately 6 months.

• He will need occasional local stays for follow up medical appointments and care due to driving distances of at least two hours from home to the Medical Center.

• 4 to 6 weeks of housing near the medical center for daily radiation treatments following the extended surgery healing.

Radiation can only begin after this part of the healing process is complete.

• acupuncture treatments and alternative pain options not covered by insurance during recovery from surgery until the left eye socket heals completely from such a profound removal. (opioids of any kind do not have a pain relief effect on Juan)

• medical costs beyond insurance coverage.

• prosthetic options once the healing is complete.
