Juan Concepcion-Alfonso is a JetBlue First Officer based in SJU and a former 220 instructor who has spent his career mentoring pilots and safely carrying passengers across the skies. Now, he is facing the most difficult challenge of his life.
Juan was recently diagnosed with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 1 (MEN 1),a rare genetic condition that has led to the development of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) in his pancreas. These tumors have spread to his liver, making this a complex and inoperable form of cancer that requires specialized care.
To receive the advanced treatment he needs, Juan has relocated from his home in Puerto Rico to Jacksonville, Florida, where he is under the care of the team at Mayo Clinic.
Just this past November, Juan married the love of his life, Gisela, a JetBlue AO crewmember. What should have been the joyful beginning of their life together has quickly become a season centered around hospital visits, treatment plans, and managing significant pain. Both Juan and Gisela are currently on leave so they can focus fully on his care and recovery.
Juan is enduring constant discomfort and sleepless nights as he fights this disease with courage and determination. The funds raised will help cover:
• Relocation and moving expenses from Puerto Rico to Jacksonville
• Medical bills and treatment-related costs
• Daily living expenses while both are on leave
• A new, supportive bed to allow Juan to rest more comfortably at home
Juan has spent years caring for others in the cockpit and the classroom. Now, it’s our turn to stand beside him.
If you are able to contribute, any amount will make a meaningful difference. If you cannot donate, sharing this page helps more than you know.
Let’s surround Juan and Gisela with strength, stability, and hope as they navigate this fight together.
