My name is JR, and I’m a father of four doing my best to care for my sick wife and our special needs son. Recently, our lives were turned upside down when our house burned down in the middle of the night. I woke up to the smell of smoke and had to act fast to save my wife, our kids, our two dogs, and our bird. We made it out safely, but we lost everything—our home, all of our belongings, and the tools I use for work.

Right now, my family and I are homeless. We’re trying to find a safe place to stay and replace the essentials we need to get back on our feet. The loss has been overwhelming, but I’m grateful that we’re all safe. My biggest concern is making sure my wife and children, especially my son with special needs, have the care and stability they deserve.
