Help JP Patches the Pup Fight for Her Life
Donation protected
Hello there,
Let me introduce you to JP Patches the Pup.
A rescued pup from the streets of the San Fernando Valley, truly she is one of the sweetest dogs you could know, and that’s according to just about anyone who comes across her. An avid lover of the woods and creeks, she trail hops any chance she can get and she’s an accomplished 5k runner, earning 3 medals to date! She assists as an Emotional Support Animal at a Non-Public Agency in Woodinville, Washington - Brock's Academy - touching hearts and serving children with special needs. JP's a great pal, an incredible spirit and a true companion.
JP is struggling for her life.
She suffered an attack from another dog and through this trauma, her health took an enormous hit. In what the doctors are categorizing as Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia - JP's immune system is attacking and removing its own red blood cells, leading to severe anemia.
The road to recovery from this is extensive and costly. The vet actually described the particular care in this case as a "rich person's" option. It can range from $10k - $15k and beyond, depending on the severity of the case, with blood transfusions needed, and ongoing monthly care with medications to support survival and well-being. The typical blood transfusion ranges around $2500. In most cases, to fight the attack on their immune system, 4-5 transfusions could be needed.
JP can still live a great life, she just needs to battle through the first stages of treatment.
Today, July 21st, was her second blood transfusion. In both transfusions - she has responded well, raising her red blood cell count. (Her 1st transfusion (July 20th) resulted in a normal gain but then the next day her levels dropped so the doctors leaned into the 2nd transfusion.)
At this point, I have exhausted my personal funds. I had to lean on friends, family and co-workers to assist as well.
I'm now asking for grace from the community in supporting JP's life. She's still in the critical stage and more immediate treatment will be needed this week.
We're incredibly thankful for any donations to help her through this. If you are unable to donate, we appreciate any effort to spread the news of support on this. Anything and everything helps - thoughts, prayers, well wishes ... any bit of energy you can throw JP's way - I truly thank you.
She's my heart - and I love her so much. I enjoy watching her connect to people; she has this innate ability to just make everyone smile and want to show her love. She is adored by all the kiddos at school and it warms hearts just to see her interact and connect with them, giving them just as much love as they give her. I never believed I could feel this way toward a dog, but for those true animal lovers, I'm sure you understand. She's family.
Thank you for taking the time to listen.
Please continue to share this fundraiser with your friends and family, and thank you again for your overwhelming support and generosity.
Sincerely,
