I am an activist for organizations like GLSEN and Project 351. I am a National Honors Society Student, a son, and a brother of six. One of my biggest identities is being a Latino, queer, and transgender man. I am desperately asking for your help.
Writing this is very challenging, and very vulnerable to me. Coming out has been the hardest thing I’ve ever faced. Unfortunately, coming out is a constant conversation and it isn’t just one and done. There were many times over the last few years where I did not think I could do this. I considered several times, giving up; going back to feeling uncomfortable every time someone called my name, every time I entered a bathroom, every time I spoke my truth.
I came out in middle school and have been on Testosterone for 2 years. I am beyond ready for this next step in my journey. Before I’m off to college I need Top-Surgery.
Top-surgery is one of many gender-affirming surgeries that trans people may choose to undergo. It is a surgery performed on the chest for those who wish to alter their chest appearance for a more masculine figure.
I’ve never liked the things on my chest, Top-surgery is something I have wanted since before I had the language to describe it. I bind every day for the last 5 years. It is uncomfortable, and I don’t want to have to keep struggling to breathe.
If you’re able to (and only if you’re able to), please consider donating to this fundraiser, anything helps me out tremendously. I am lucky enough to get a portion covered by my insurance, however, there is a big chunk I need to pay out of pocket for. There’s little I can give in return, but I’ve been told I give good hugs, I’m fun to be around, and I’m a good cook.
