On Saturday the 22nd of May, my mother Joyce Hartington (Volz) underwent cardiac arrest and was taken to the emergency room.  Once stabilized she underwent heart surgery and had two heart stints fitted and one blockage was left "as is" which means that part of her heart will remain dead.  Doctors predict she will return to 80% percent capacity however, she she will need some time to recover.   

As a consequence of the surgery, Joyce will not be able to return to work for several months, will have to move out of her home in Winter Park (due to the high altitude, low oxygen levels will inhibit her recovery).  This also means that Joyce will have to give up her massage therapy business which she has worked hard to build over the past 35 years.  The loss of income, inability to work, along with mounting medical bills means that she will need all of our help to make it through and successfully transition to the next phase of her life. 

All of the funds we raise will be used to pay off the medical bills, pay her rent,  food & living expenses and enable her to move to more suitable location (probably Wichita to be at sea level and to be near Christian and his family).  Any excess funds will be used as a down payment for a place to live.  

Joyce's situation is urgent and we are sorry to have to ask for help, however we also love our Mom and we want her to focus on recovering and transitioning to a new way of life without too much financial pressure and emotional stress.

We are so very grateful to anyone and everyone who is able to help and we and our Mom, Joyce will be forever indebted to you and we thank you for your generosity.
