Help Joyce Bambach Fight Cancer

Joyce Bambach has been a sports photographer for Roxbury and Lenape Valley athletes for the past 20 years as well as for other organizations in both towns.

If you have been to a sporting event in Roxbury or Lenape Valley in the last 20 years, you may have noticed Joyce on the sidelines or close to them taking pictures and rooting on your sons and daughters. Now she is in some trouble and needs our financial and emotional support as she battles cancer. Below you will find Joyce’s struggles in her own words and how she has felt about the children and the military personal from our towns she has been supporting for years. If we can raise $30,000, it will help reduce the stress for Joyce for the a full year and allow her to concentrate on her illness. Any and every dollar donated will help.

"I have adrenal gland cancer , kidney cancer and cancer of the bone in my spine..The cancer has crushed three of the bones in my spine so that is where the pain comes from...

I have worked for the Roxbury Register as a photographer for over 20 years covering all of their sports but especially football and soccer., basketball and wrestling..So many stories to tell of knowing some of the young athletes on and off the field. I do the wall of sports fame in front of the gym and have for several years..

I also have done wrestling, track, football and field hockey for Lenape.

The coaches in both towns let me stand right in the middle of the athletes .. My goal in the beginning was to hopefully make the kids feel good enough about themselves so they would not do drugs..I wanted the high to come from achievements in athletics..

Some of the athletes have gone onto military duty... Since I am a military mom I have found ways to make sure they are not forgotten while serving our country.. I have sent packages along with the help of Roxbury Rotary , photo books and now calendars to our military for over twelve years..

This summer while I sat at our local deli  one of my Navy guys came with a letter of thanks for all the calendars he has received.. I asked him how he made it being so young and so far away from home while in the seas of Japan..He said the comradery of the guys and his Cranberry lake Calendar which he keeps next to his pillow.. The images of our lake remind him that some day he will be home again.. One young Air Force lady said she didn't feel so stressed with giving birth to her first child alone in Japan when she looked at the calendar with images of home.. One young Army  guy needed a fishing pole to teach the Iraqis how to fish so I got him a pole and sent it overseas.. One Marine sent a picture of himself and his four wingmen in their F18s flying to Japan... I sent the picture to former President Bush and he returned it saying to Kevin Love G Bush. The flag that Kevin flew 100 hours over Iraq and Afghanistan in his F18 is now one of the flags carried into the Roxbury Military Appreciation night..The other flag is one that I asked Congressman Rodney Freyllinghuysen to have a flown over the Capitol  in honor of the Roxbury football players. The calendars and puzzles have gone to Rx HS and Lenape athletic graduates who have entered the military

After I met and photographed Harrison Ford I had him sign a picture took of him and sent it to the marines in Iraq via my cousin..

The Art show I am running at Shawnee Mt with the help of my sons has already raised  $12,000 for the Valor program for housing for homeless Vets..My most recent donation of a 4 by 4 picture of Waterloo Village went  to the VA in PAramus..

I am totally humbled by the outpouring of love and generosity to me since I was diagnosed...  Sadly both my boys have had cancer and fortunately both have survived.. I really like being the giver and not the taker."
