On Tuesday, December 18 2018 Joyce suffered a massive stroke and was airlifted to Cooper Trama Center, where she undergone surgery to remove a blood clot in her brain. Unfortunately the blood clot stopped normal blood flow and oxygen to her brain and she has lost all usage of her entire left side of her body. The road for recovery for Joyce will be extremely long and challenging, however her positive energy that she possesses during these difficult times is amazing! She is a fighter and will never give up as she starts her recovery.
Unfortunately, the proper medical care for her recovery comes with a ton of red tape for the insurance carrier and has left the family with a financial burden. The Cortes and Austino family deeply appreciates all the prayers and visits along with the power of prayers towards her healing.
With the permission of Joyce's two children Michelle Cortes and John Austino Jr.; This page was established to help, support and to alleviate any financial burden, so Joyce can maintain a healthy lifestyle in her own home.
