Greetings, my name is Joy Salavaria, currently residing in California. Recently, my home country Jamaica was literally demolished by Hurricane Melissa.

I have uncles, aunts, cousins, and neighbors that I grew up with. We were like a village who looked out for each other.

The funds will be distributed to families to purchase their basic needs: food, water, and shelter. Many do not have a place to rest their heads because Melissa came in like a thief in the night and stole everything away from them; they are devastated, speechless, angry, and at a loss. They are in disbelief. Medical care is needed; the death of the animals, human beings, and spoiled goods left the atmosphere too unbearable to breathe. Please! Please! Help me help them to breathe fresh air again.

I am reaching out to those that are able to donate to my hometown Chatham/Goodwill in St. James, Jamaica.

I know we are all struggling with the crisis we here in America have been enduring, the high cost of living, homelessness, and the likes, and to ask you now to reach into your pockets to donate may be overwhelming to many of you.
