Help Joy Rebuild After Tragic Losses
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Gwynne, and I'm a friend of Joy Childress.
My good friend was hospitalized on Tuesday to begin to heal from the death of both of her parents and her wife in a very short period. Just a bit later she lost Finn (partner to her Sawyer). Then Tuesday morning, she was evicted. Everything was just too much, but thankfully she went to the hospital.
Joy has touched a lot of lives, working first as a social worker and then as a teacher in both the Hays and Austin school districts. She always put the people she loved first, whether her students, her family, or her wife. And Joy has just hit a wall and needs a hand up.
Family and friends have been working to support Joy by packing up her apartment and putting it in storage, and finding a foster placement for her beloved dog, Sawyer. These are some costs that we have absorbed, but her primary needs, which exceed our budgets, are as follows:
- $1500+ for past due rent at her old apartment. This must be paid for her to be able to rent a new place.
- $1500+ for car payments (which may also be in several months of arrears, we are trying to find out).
- $2500+ for deposit and first and last month's rent for new apartment.
- $1500+ for start up costs for new apartment (a lot of things from her old apartment had to be thrown away, so she needs towels, sheets, kitchen basics, etc.).
We hope to reunite Joy and her beloved, Sawyer, as soon as possible after her release, and any additional funds will be used for his veterinary care, which needs to be addressed.
Any donation amount will be helpful because I believe that there are a whole lot of people out there whose lives have been touched by Joy. You can donate as little as $5, and every dollar counts.
Please show Joy your love if you can.
