Help Joy Survive Her Liver Shunt.
My one-year-old Mini Goldendoodle, Joy, is fighting for her life against a rare congenital liver shunt. Please help give her the care and surgery she needs to survive.
My name is Blanca Figuereo, and I’m fundraising for my sweet one-year-old Mini Goldendoodle, Joy.
Joy has filled my home with so much love and happiness — she’s family. But earlier this year, everything changed. Around June 2025, I noticed she wasn’t acting like herself — sleeping more, losing energy, and not eating well. By July 18, she had become so weak that I had to rush her to the vet.
After months of tests, ultrasounds, and hospital stays, Joy was diagnosed with a congenital intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (liver shunt) — a rare birth defect that prevents her liver from filtering toxins from her blood. On October 14, 2025, a CT scan confirmed the diagnosis and showed that her liver is abnormally small with an abnormal blood vessel connection.
Joy’s doctors say this is a serious but treatable condition — with the right medical care and possibly surgery, she can live a happy, healthy life. But getting her there has already been emotionally and financially overwhelming. Her treatments, imaging, and hospital care have cost thousands of dollars, and more expenses are coming as we plan the next steps for her recovery.
I love Joy deeply and will do anything to give her the life she deserves. She’s strong, sweet, and still wags her tail through it all. But I can’t do this alone — I’m asking for help from anyone who can support her battle.
Your donation — no matter how small — will go directly toward her medical bills, medications, and upcoming specialist treatments. And if you can’t donate, please help by sharing Joy’s story so others can help her too.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping Joy survive her liver shunt battle and giving her a chance at the healthy, happy life she deserves.
With love and gratitude,
Blanca & Joy
