Help Joy Gain Independence and Ease Her Pain

Donation protected
In 2016, Joy Precious’s life changed dramatically after a serious hit-and-run car accident with her two daughters left her a paraplegic. Now a single and dedicated stay at home mother, Joy has embraced her role as a full-time caregiver to her children, but her current manual wheelchair is creating daily struggles.

While trying to navigate the world, simple tasks become draining physical challenges. Joy explained that when she goes to her children's school, she must simultaneously hold open heavy doors, use her hands to push the chair, and often manage her 11-month-old strapped safely to her. This constant and demanding effort leads to painful strain on her upper back. When the pain is too much, her young children has to step in and help push her along…a burden that is far too heavy for their little hands.

An electric chair means she can roll through doorways without struggle. Her hands can be free for her baby instead of constantly on her wheels. It will take away the constant, painful strain on her upper back, giving her the energy back to focus on her kids, not her pain. An electric chair would also give Joy the ability to get right up to the stove, sink, and washer. This makes everyday household tasks like cooking dinner and doing laundry so much easier and safer.

Let’s rally together to give Joy the gift of movement and independence so she can fully thrive as the incredible mother and person she is. Every donation helps bring her one step closer to getting where she needs to go (literally and figuratively)!
