Help Joy's Baby Sinag with Life Saving Surgery
Hi everyone!
Some of you know me as Christina or Cris. I am a member of GABRIELA NY and I'm raising funds for my friend Joy in the Philippines. Joy is a volunteer organizer of GABRIELA Philippines, a grassroots women’s organization that provides support and services for women victims of violence in urban poor communities. Joy is based in Manila, Philippines. She had a baby recently December 20, 2020 named Sinag, but the baby has not been able to gain proper weight. The baby has Inguinal Hernia and has no bridge in her mouth. Joy has to continue to bring Sinag for treatment and nutrition and tests, including an operation to fix her inguinal hernia.
Since medical intervention is privatized in the Philippines, she will need 400,000 Philippine pesos for surgery, nutrition and followup doctor visits. The surgery itself is 150,000 Philippine pesos.
400,000 Philippine pesos = 8240 US dollars
Why support Joy? Joy is an amazing organizer, I got to work with her in Manila, Philippines during my trip where she showed me the day - to - day work she does to organize the urban poor community around housing, work, and violence prevention issues. We would do workshops about violence against women, she is the most vivacious facilitator and always kept things interesting. She does a lot for her community and kababayan and please help her out in this time of need. Please help my friend who's an amazing organizer for the Filipino people.
If you got 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 +++ bucks - that would be so helpful. Let's show some Bayanihan spirit to Joy and Baby Sinag. Also, gofundme does take out a small percentage of the donation, if you'd like to give a private donation without a fee taken out - please message me.
"Bayanihan" - The Bayanihan spirit shows Filipinos’ concept of helping one another most especially in times of need without expecting anything in return. Filipinos strongly believe in helping their “kababayans (fellow countrymen)” in any possible way they can do to extend a helping hand.It is a beautiful Filipino mentality of helping one another.
