About a month ago, an orange-and-white tabby appeared in our neighborhood and quietly made himself at home. We started calling him Journey. He’s incredibly sweet, affectionate, and trusting — the kind of cat who clearly once belonged to someone and doesn’t understand why he was left behind.

Because he’s a newcomer, life on the streets has been hard. The neighborhood cats are territorial, and Journey has been getting beaten up as he tries to survive outside. Over the weekend, I noticed a deep gash on his leg. On Sunday night, instead of roaming like usual, he spent the entire night curled up on my outdoor couch — something he had never done before. It felt like he was asking for help.

The next day, I took him to the vet. His wound had become badly infected, and parts of the tissue had turned necrotic — meaning it was dying and could not heal without intervention. Journey needed emergency surgery to remove the infected tissue and save his leg, and possibly his life. Your contribution will also go towards finding him a new forever home.

The surgery went well, and Journey is now recovering. He’s safe, resting, and finally out of danger. Once he heals, I already have a foster placement lined up through an adoption center so he can find the stable, loving home he deserves.
