- O
My name is Amira. I am a Palestinian who was born and raised in Germany. I live a safe and privileged life just by chance - not like my friend Aziz, who was born in Gaza and is now trying to survive a genocide. The least I can do for my people is to use these privileges to provide useful help.
Aziz and I met on instagram last year in summer. I verified his identity through video calls. Since then we have been talking almost daily and became close friends. When I met him, he had to quit his last year of high school, because of the genocidal war on Gaza. Instead he became a skilled photojournalist. During the Gaza Genocide Israel deliberately killed around 300 journalists, which makes Gaza the most dangerous place for journalists in the whole world.
I asked Aziz to write a few words about how this genocide affects his life and the life of his five brothers:
„For a year and eight months, I have documented the scenes of events, destruction, and famine that are omnipresent in starving my country.
I have witnessed people suffering from famine, and today my family and I are victims of hunger that kills our souls before our bodies.
I lost my home, which was bombed and destroyed. I lost my father, mother, sister, and more than 50 members of my family, including my grandfather, grandmother, cousins, and uncles. I still struggle to continue my journalistic work after being injured twice as a result of the painful war.
Your donations and support make us live better and save us from this genocide and murder.“
Please provide whatever sum you can, don’t underestimate the impact you can make. Your donations will be used to maintain Aziz‘ and his brothers livelihoods (i.e. food, water, shelter, medicine)
