Hello everyone,
- My name is Jessica Rivera and I am the mother to an amazing little boy named Josue. He has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder and Global Developmental Delay. Josue has worked so incredibly hard in is therapies since 3 years old, but he struggles with traditional approaches to Autism like Aba, speech, and Occupational therapy. BUT there is one thing in particular that he is so passionate about, and that's music! If you know him, you know he's always singing and full of joy. Josue recently started Music therapy and he absolutely loves it. I get emotional every session he goes to. I have never seen our son so regulated and calm until receiving Music therapy. The difference has been wonderful to witness. Hes happy, learning, and growing confidence with each session he attends. Currently we can only afford 1 session a week and would love to be able to afford 2 days for him to do what he absolutely loves, but unfortunately we cannot.(Music therapy is not covered by insurance in the state of NC) I had to stop working due to his diagnosis, and everything has fallen on my husband's shoulders. With increased costs of just everyday living we cannot afford to provide all the therapy he needs. As parents this truly breaks our hearts. Although it is hard to ask for help I have learned that sometimes you have to put everything aside and just simply tell your story.
