Help Josue, my R2H mentee, get back on his feet

Hello, I’m Lucy and I’ve been working at Red Ventures since last August. I feel lucky to work at a place where giving back is built in to our values and wanted to play my own role in “leaving the woodpile higher than we found it”.

With this in mind, I signed up as a Road to Hire mentor with the hopes that I could help someone navigate the confusion of interviews and the professional workplace. Josue became my mentee through this program.

Over the past 6 months, Josue and I have met every week to talk through his life, what he’s learned in R2H, and what the future looks like. I know Josue as a community builder within his class, someone who never backs down from a challenge, and a person who always goes the extra mile. He’s hardworking and passionate, and was right on track to graduate the program and land a job despite COVID-19 and having to navigate remote learning and working.

Unfortunately, Josue had to leave R2H just shy of graduation. He expected to move to Boston, but personal circumstances have kept him in Charlotte. The unexpected circumstances have currently left Josue and his wife homeless. Luckily, they've been able to find employment but they don't have any savings to tap into for a deposit on an apartment. 

With the help of friends, I’ve been able to give Josue enough money for food, gas, and hotel rooms the past few days. Your help would be greatly appreciated so that I can make sure Josue and his wife can stay safely in an extended stay hotel for at least the next week (about ~$600) while they apartment hunt as well as put down a deposit on an apartment and have enough for food and other expenses.
