Help Josué Fight for His Life
Josué Solís Duarte, only 16 years old, has spent most of the last two years in and out of Hospital Militar in Managua, Nicaragua battling for his life while enduring pain, surgery, and uncertainty that no child should have to face.
While other teenagers focus on school or friendships, Josué has undergone:
• A leukemia diagnosis, treated with costly medications (Filgrastim and Asparaginase)
• A bone marrow transplant
• A pacemaker implant
• Brain surgery for a glioblastoma tumor
• Repeated hospitalizations for aneurysm risks and vascular complications
• Multiple setbacks from infections, medication reactions, and chronic pain
Despite everything, Josué remains brave, hopeful, and quietly resilient.
But love and courage are not enough to cover the overwhelming costs of survival.

The Family’s Struggles
This is not just Josué’s fight. His entire family is in crisis:
• His mother, Cintya, had to travel by bus to Costa Rica for her kidney transplant and cancer care, since those treatments are unavailable in Nicaragua.
• His great-grandmother, Rosita, is hospitalized indefinitely after suffering a stroke and undergoing two brain surgeries.
• His grandmother, Marlene, lives in Costa Rica to receive healthcare. She has a pacemaker, is a polio survivor, suffers from rheumatoid arthritis, and struggles with limited mobility.
• His brother, Roberto, almost died from a work accident in April 2025 and is now recovering and unemployed.
This family has done everything humanly possible to survive and support one another. But they cannot do it alone anymore.
