Help Josúe become a Firefighter

Donation protected
Hello, My name is Alexa Treviño and I am Josúe's partner. If you know Josúe you know he has a heart of gold. He recently risked his life to save an elderly couple from the top floor of a burning building. He experienced firsthand what our incredible SFFD goes through daily. Not everyone dares to put their well-being aside to help others as Josúe did that night.

When I first started dating Josúe back in 2016, ( wow so long ago)
We would talk about our dreams, and one of his dreams was to be a firefighter. I could see it in the way he treated our family and friends but I noticed how deep his love is to help when he would go out of his way for strangers. You can just see the joy on his face after being there for someone in need. Whether it be helping a Señora in our hood (La Mission) carry her groceries up a steep stoop, pushing a broken down truck off of 23rd and Mission intersection, walking our friends to their cars late at night, making sure folks don't choke while having multiple seizures (this happened twice), and now running into a burning building.

It was a terrifying moment for me and Josúe's family to find out what he did and then to wait to see if he would develop any lasting effects from the smoke inhalation. We are very proud of him and we are so thankful that he did not suffer any permanent lung damage. When I received his call after he saved 2 lives he was more worried about what would have happened to me and his family if he did not make it out alive. Even with facing death, he regretted nothing, he felt like he was supposed to be there.

Please read the SF Chronicle article to learn more about that night.

That night he met with a few of the firefighters and as he watched them shut down the fire, his dreams of being a part of that heroic team reignited (for lack of a better word)

He has now made friends and mentors from the firefighters that now frequent his Job (TrickDog) which happens to be right in front of the building that was on fire. They have been encouraging Josúe to join the team and have been guiding him to make the dream of being a firefighter a reality.

How can YOU help him become a firefighter? Well, let's get him educated and trained!
He needs to complete the EMT extensive course, CPR, and then he can go to the FIRE ACADEMY!

Our goal is to raise money to cover the cost of his Education, travel expenses ( the school is in Alameda), and his portion of rent/bills since he would need to let go of more than a few work days.

As a portrait photographer, I wish I could support us both but yall know how hard it is in the city with the cost of rent and other things that are out of our control.

Many friends + strangers want to buy this hero a drink but instead let's cheers to his education, his dream. Help this SFNative be the hero our hood needs!

I have so much gratitude for you if you read this far, thank you from the bottom of our hearts,

Que viva Josue! Que viva our hero!

Important date* February 17th is the last day to enroll in the upcoming EMT course.
