Fundraiser for Medical Recovery After Motorcycle Accident
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out with a heavy heart after a serious motorcycle accident I was involved in recently. I’ve suffered multiple fractures on the right side of my face and a broken jaw that now requires oral surgery. It’s been an incredibly painful and emotional time.
For those who know me, you know I’m a single mother of three, and I’ve always tried to stay strong for my kids. But right now, I’m asking for help—something that’s not easy for me to do. Between hospital bills, upcoming surgery, and being unable to work during recovery, I’m struggling to stay afloat.
Any support—whether it’s a donation, a share, or a kind word—means the world to me and my children during this time. I appreciate you all more than words can say. The patient Josephine Rivera, a 40-year-old female, presented to the Emergency Department with a chief complaint of severe facial pain. She was transferred from Memorial West for oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) and trauma consult.
Josephine reports that three days ago, she was involved in a dirt bike accident and was initially evaluated and admitted to Lee Health in Fort Myers, Florida. According to medical records, imaging revealed the following extensive injuries:
• Displaced fracture of the right zygomatic arch
• Fracture lines involving the right zygomaticomaxillary buttress
• Comminuted fractures of the anterior, medial, and posterior lateral walls of the right maxillary sinus
• Fracture of the anterior wall of the left medullary sinus
• Fracture of the right pterygoid plates
• Comminuted and depressed fracture of the right lateral orbital wall with orbital rim involvement
• Fracture of the maxilla extending to the right alveolar ridge
Josephine also reported four loose teeth, and her jaw was wired shut using rubber bands over her existing braces. Unsatisfied with the care she received in Fort Myers, she sought further evaluation at Memorial West, closer to her home, and was later transferred to Memorial Regional Hospital for specialized treatment.

Why This Fundraiser Matters:
Josephine is now facing a long and painful road to recovery. She’s experiencing 10/10 pain on the right side of her face, and her jaw remains shut with rubber bands. She’s currently under observation and monitoring with a cardiac unit to ensure her stability.
Her official diagnosis is:
Closed fracture of unspecified facial bone (initial encounter).
⸻
What’s Next:
On August 4, 2025, Josephine will undergo:
• Open reduction and internal fixation of multiple facial fractures
• Maxillomandibular fixation (jaw stabilization)
• Extraction of loose or damaged teeth
• Any other procedures deemed necessary during surgery
These will be performed by Dr. Stanley Liu, MD.
⸻
How You Can Help:
Between emergency room visits, surgeries, dental procedures, recovery, and time away from work, the medical expenses are overwhelming. Josephine is also a single mother trying to stay strong for her children through unimaginable pain and stress.
Your contribution—no matter how small—will go directly toward helping her cover:
• Surgical and hospital bills
• Dental and oral surgery needs
• Transportation to and from medical appointments
• Living expenses during recovery
Please consider donating and sharing this page to support Josephine through this life-altering experience. Your help means everything right now.
Thank you for your compassion.
With love and gratitude,
Jossie
