Help Josse Kick Leukemia’s Butt

Donation protected
Dear friends,

In July of 2023, my wonderful niece Josse found her world flipped upside down. As a stay-at-home mom to two beautiful girls, both under the age of 5, she needs a community that can help her. At just 25 years old, she was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML).

The answers to her increasing inability to do daily tasks came from flashes of white spots in her vision that prompted her to get an eye exam. Concerning results and blood work done in the Ophthalmologist's office led to an ER visit which promptly rushed her to the ICU department at Huntsman Cancer Institute. Under their excellent care and enrolling in a medical trial for treating CML, Josse’s leukemia has gotten under control and her condition is stable.

However, all of this came at a cost. Financially, physically, and emotionally. Side effects to the medication have presented their own obstacles in Josse’s ability to maintain the everyday tasks that motherhood demands. There continue to be many days where staying upright for long amounts of time isn’t possible. She experiences severe dizziness accompanied with a limited supply of energy. Migraines are also a frequent companion. FMLA offered protection for her husband, Philip, to come home as needed to be both caretaker to Josse and their children, but it was short-term and that time frame has lapsed. He now runs the risk of losing his job for any further time off.

Josse needs your help! With the rising cost of groceries and basic living expenses, she is also needing to find alternative methods to combat her dizziness and migraines so that she is capable of being the mom her two daughters need her to be. Acupuncture, massage, and house cleaning are outside sources she is in need of. 2023 depleted their finances and now her husband is doing all that he can to provide financially as there is barely enough money to cover expenses. Because her diagnosis is new, previous tax years do not yet qualify them for financial aid.

Leukemia is robbing Josse of LIVING her life. With your help, she can afford to follow the external treatment options healthcare won’t cover. It will help provide food for her family, and a house cleaner to come once a week. Her hope is to be able to raise her girls not restrained to the couch or bed.

Please help Josse be able to kick leukemia’s butt so that it doesn’t dictate how she can live her life!
