Joslyn is a bright and resilient young girl who inherited her mother Megan’s rare heart condition, Ebstein’s anomaly—a defect so uncommon it affects only 1 in 200,000 babies. In 2018, Joslyn and Megan became the only known parent and child in the world to undergo surgery for this condition. Since then, Joslyn’s cardiologist has closely monitored her progress, but over the past few months, her health has declined. She often tells Megan she’s out of breath after recess, and even simple activities like walking up stairs leave her exhausted. After many tests and consultations with her doctors, it’s clear that Joslyn is now in active heart failure. Her heart has not grown in sync with the corrections made during her first surgery at age three, and she now faces stenosis of the tricuspid valve and cardiopulmonary insufficiency. While most patients thrive after their initial procedure, Joslyn is among the few who need further intervention. Her medical team, including her original surgeon, has determined she needs another open heart surgery—to remove the previous cone and replace it with a new cone, then perform a bilateral Glenn shunt. The surgery is scheduled for January 15th in Pittsburgh, and the family is understandably anxious as they prepare for this next chapter. Funds raised will help cover travel and lodging for Joslyn’s brother Jax to visit, food expenses during their stay, and bills Megan cannot pay while she is unable to work while in Pittsburgh.
Your support—whether through donations, prayers, or positive thoughts—means the world to Joslyn and her family as they face this daunting journey together. Thank you for standing with them in this time of need.
