Help Joslin kick FND!
Donation protected
Joslin Jakubowski is a 13 year old 8th grade student as South Jefferson Central School in Adams, NY. In June 2019 she was diagnosed after being rushed to 3 hospitals with a very rare condition called Functional Neurological Disorder (later referred to as FND). This condition causes the body's nervous system and brain to collide causing a variety of physical complications such as paralysis, jerky movements, muscle weakness as well as many more.
Joslin is now having 5-9 seizures a day and in a wheelchair at school not able to complete a full day of school because of this. She is an athlete, outgoing, adventurous, and this disorder is taking away her life as a teenager. There is NO medication for this condition. The only medically proven treatment is an intense specialized therapy. Unfortunately, this therapy she needs is not covered by insurance. Dr. Afra Moenter is a FND specialist located at the Rocky Mountain Center for Epilepsy in Colorado. Joslin's mother Allana has spent countless hours, days, weeks, months trying to find help for her daughter and somehow get back to a "normal" way of life for her and her family. Allana has finally found someone who is confident they can get Joslin better and back to her love of riding dirt bike or just simply being a teenager! The 3-4 month intense therapy can be done via video chat but there is a chance that Joslin and her family may have to travel to Boulder Colorado. The cost of this video chat therapy is $180.00/hour and it is 2 times a week which ends up being $1,440.00/month! No one has those kinds of funds just set a side for something like this.
Any help would be more than greatly appreciated by not only Joslin, but her family as well! This is the most deserving family whom asks for nothing but in this devastating time they need all the help they can get. Please help raise funds for a good cause in getting Joslin better again and if you can't donate on here there will also be a benefit at the Adams American Legion on January 25th, 2020 (more details to follow). Please share this so we can help Joslin kick FND's butt!
I will keep this page updated as therapy starts. Please keep this family in your prayers.
