On Thanksgiving Day, my sister Josie, her husband Troy, their 5-year-old son Josiah, and their two beloved dogs experienced a devastating tragedy when their home in Thomasville, NC caught fire and burned to the ground. Thankfully, they all escaped unharmed, but they lost everything—clothing, food, medications, important documents, bank cards, Josiah’s toys, pet food and supplies, and all of their household goods and furniture. The Red Cross has stepped in to provide temporary food and hotel vouchers, but the road ahead is long and uncertain.
Josie receives disability benefits and is unable to work, and Troy, who is employed, now has no clothes or shoes to wear to work. Their home was a rental property, so there will be no financial reimbursement from insurance for the countless items they have lost. They are starting over with nothing but the clothes on their backs, and the support of their friends, family, and community is more important than ever.
We are reaching out to ask for your help as Josie, Troy, and Josiah begin to rebuild their lives. Any contribution, no matter how small, will go directly toward replacing essential items and helping them find stability in this difficult time. Your kindness and generosity will make a world of difference as they work to recover from this heartbreaking loss.
