I am facing a hardship in my life. Months ago, I noticed a vision change in my
right eye. I made an appointment with an ophthalmologist and after a battery
of tests, I was diagnosed with macular degeneration. He informed me that
both eyes had a lot of scar tissue and that my right eye did not look good and
if left unattended, I would lose my eyesight.

I have a detached retina. My left eye is being treated with injections to stop
the disease from progressing further. However, my right eye can only be
saved through a vitrectomy (retinal reattachment surgery) which is why I am
asking your help.

Current life circumstances have placed me in a situation where I do not qualify
for health insurance that I can afford (even the lowest tier of Covered
California is far beyond my budget). Unfortunately, I don’t yet qualify for
Medicare coverage because I am under the minimum age of qualification. I
can’t wait to qualify for Medicare to have this treatment as my quality of sight
is diminishing rapidly. The financial burden of this surgery is daunting to say
the least, but I need to have the procedure done in order to save my vision.
Vitrectomy surgery has an estimated uninsured cost of between $7,000 and
$10,000.

Please consider donating whatever you can to help me reach my goal of
$18,000 for this surgery and other medical expenses. I am grateful for any
