Hi, I am Kayla Pekny. My lovely dog, Josie, has been struggling with sneezing fits and nasal mucous that did not improve with antibiotics. X-rays revealed a nasal mass. She needs to have a CT scan followed by a rhinoscopy for diagnosis, so it can be treated in the best way possible. A rhinoscopy is a procedure in which the vet inserts a camera in her nose, while she is under anesthesia, to examine the mass and take samples if needed. The vet believes this could be either a tooth-root abscess from her recent dental procedure, a fungal infection, or nasal cancer.
The estimate for the CT scan and rhinoscopy combined is $4,803.90 to $7,765.13. Josie's dental surgery, x-rays, and consultations have already added up to over $3,000.
At nine years old, Josie is still the sweet and beautiful soul we know and love. She has a great quality of life and still enjoys walks, plush toys, family, her favorite foods, sunbathing, playing in the snow, and cuddles with Mommy. Josie is a survivor, having beaten cancer in 2023 and overcoming two TPLO knee surgeries when she was younger. She is my everything, my greatest companion and my reason to keep going, despite the challenges I face in life. When my illness progressed and I became unable to work, Josie and I had no choice but to leave our life in Asheville and move into a family member's home in Florida. Despite living frugally, we need help to pay for the diagnostic testing and treatment of Josie's nasal blockage.
Whether you know Josie and I from school, work, family/friends, or you happen to come across this page, we will be forever grateful for any support you can offer. I will update this page with new information as I learn more about her specific needs and costs of treatment. Thank you!
