Help Josie and Archie Avoid Eviction

This is my friend Josie and her son, Archie. Ulysses, her other son, passed away in 2022. Josie is 74 years old, retired, blind in one eye, has diabetes, hypertension, neuropathy, and ambulates with a walker. She's also the sole caretaker of her disabled son who is on dialysis 3x a week, mentally challenged, deaf, and completely blind in one eye. Like Josie, he is also diabetic, has hypertension, and is currently getting treatment on his one good eye for retinopathy. Josie, in her old age and condition, drives Archie to his dialysis 3x a week and to all his medical appointments. They are living off of Josie's social security and Archie's disability check to pay for rent (which barely covers it), medical copays, medications, transportation, utilities, etc., and Archie's SNAP benefit for food.

Josie had a bad fall last month which landed her in the hospital. Archie would walk from their apartment to the hospital every day. He missed a couple of dialysis sessions while Josie was in the hospital. Because of this, Josie was forced to leave the hospital early so she could take him to dialysis. Their car almost got impounded while she was in the hospital because she missed paying the registration. They can't even afford to pay for all their medications. The fall and the mounting medical bills caused them to fall 2 months behind on their rent. Now they are being threatened with eviction if they can't pay rent by the end of this week. They don't even know where and how to get food now with the government shutdown.

I created this GoFundMe to help a dear friend who is struggling to keep a roof over their head, pay their bills, and put food on the table. They only have each other and no other family members. Any amount, big or small, is deeply appreciated.

My name is Melanie. I met Josie at work. She was a very kind and hardworking MA who truly cared for our patients. She never asks for anything but always gives so much. Now it's time she receives some of that kindness back. Thank you for your support.
