My name is Josiah Conway. The two boys in my photos — Spencer and Levi — are my whole world. Every picture you see represents a moment I fought to have. A day at the mall, a summer swim, an arcade battle. These weren't gifts. They were hard-won hours that cost me nearly everything.
Since 2011, I have been in and out of family court fighting to remain a present, active father. Over more than 15 years I have spent close to $150,000 in legal fees. I built a career in federal law enforcement — a career I lost not for any wrongdoing, but because a wrongful arrest, stemming directly from this custody battle, took it from me. I followed my court orders. I did nothing wrong. After more than a year of fighting and $12,000 in legal fees, I was found not guilty. But the career was already gone.
My ex has repeatedly blocked my parenting time — more times than I can count. She has caused my sons to hang up during phone calls and blocked my number. She has filed multiple police reports and child welfare complaints against me over the years. Every single allegation was investigated. Every single one was found to be completely unfounded. No further action was ever taken. Courts have found her in contempt — and still, meaningful consequences have never followed.
This summer she has kept Spencer and Levi from me entirely and cut off all communication. She has now filed a motion to terminate my parenting time completely and bar me from any contact with my own children.
I am self-represented, out of funds, and facing the most consequential legal fight of my life. I am not asking for sympathy. I am asking for a fighting chance — a chance to stand before a judge with proper legal representation. A chance for Spencer and Levi to know their father never gave up on them.
Because I never have. And I never will.
