Joshua Jimenez is on the Fairmount Soccer travel team with my son Nolan. His Dad, Leo, had a terrible accident on Thursday, January 28th. He was working on a scaffold 30' high, demolishing a building. As he and a co-worker were cutting out an air duct, it leaned on the scaffold, causing it to fall. It's amazing Leo survived the 30' fall, but as you can imagine he sustained serious injuries. He broke his elbow, which required surgery. He broke 5 ribs on his right side, and has severe contusions to his pelvis and legs. He's barely able to walk and his arm will likely only heal 60%-80%. In addition to being hospitalized for over a week, Leo was told he'll be out of work for 6 months to a year. He's the only driver in his family and is now unable to drive. So Joshua, his sister and mother must rely on public transportation (not ideal during covid), uber or the kindness of friends. While the pandemic has certainly created a financial strain for many families, there are many of us who have been very lucky to continue working full time. As a family who has been on the receiving end of generous support when we experienced a devastating setback due to illness, I know first hand the impact this type of support can have on both a practical and emotional level. I know there are many people who'd like to help Leo and his family. Funds raised can offset out-of-pocket medical expenses, lost wages, provide support for transportation, etc. Joshua's family never missed a soccer game, always coming as a family unit, cheering on Joshua and his team. Now they need our support during such a dark time. Any donation you're able to make will help.
