My brother Joshua is only 30 years old, but since he was two he has had lung issues including asthma. About eight years ago he was diagnosed with chronic COPD with pulmonary fibrosis. They are now calling his sickness terminal end stage lung disease. The thing you have to know about my brother is that he is the most kind and selfless person I have ever met. He isn't the type to be in the spotlight or want attention. I'm sure when he sees this gofundme he will cringe. He doesn't want anyone to feel bad for him and he is strong, but right now he needs our help.
Ever since he got sick in February things have progressed very fast. He can no longer work and JUST GOING to Mayo for a simple procedure is incredibly expensive let alone paying for all the tests.
He is currently suffering from dysphagia (can't eat solid foods and difficulty swallowing even water). He suffers from PTSD and panic attacks as well as truly not being able to catch a breath. Daily living has gotten to be extremely difficult and challenging. He has lost 40% capacity of his lungs.
Here's the good news: He is currently getting help from a research team at Mayo Clinic and is a candidate for a double lung transplant.
As I write this I am crying and I know you can tell how serious this is. My brother literally can't breathe or eat food and he is in pain. BUT he is healthy other than his lungs, he has a great attitude, and family and friends who love him. He also has his girlfriend Linda and her two boys looking after Josh and getting him to appointments.
Whatever you can do financially and with thoughts and prayers we appreciate from the bottom of our hearts.
