Help Joshua Owens Heal After Tragic Accident
Donation protected
Joshua Owens, 17, of San Antonio, Texas, recently sustained severe and life-threatening injuries when a motor vehicle collided with his motorized bike on Thousand Oaks Dr. He was commuting home from his very first major job at a local restaurant when the accident occurred.
His mother is currently trying to hold it together as her son is fighting for his life in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. "He developed a stroke as a result of his injuries and is currently ventilated. He sustained widespread injuries including a broken femur, has cervical spine damage, sinus fractures, and will be undergoing jaw reconstruction and will require his mouth to be wired shut for several months. Due to this, a trach and PEG will be placed at this time. His injuries are extensive and will require much expensive rehabilitative services. He is strong, and we are trying to give him as much of a fighting chance for a normal life after this."
As we move closer to reaching our goal half point, I consider the reality of the cost of healthcare, provider services, inflation, compounding interest, the impact of missing work on income and potentially employment. This fund was created for relief, but I hope it will grow to beable to do more in the way of being substantial for atleast 4-6 months.
I received an update about Joshua’s status. He is still requiring a ventilator at this time but was able to wake up and follow multiple commands, but was very uncomfortably aware of the ventilator. It will take him some time to heal to the degree that he will beable to, after all of the initial surgeries are complete. Please continue to keep him in your prayers. God bless everyone for their thoughtfulness and generosity as we continue to empathize with this young man and his dedicated mother.
