Help Joshua Heal After a Brutal Attack

Donation protected
I am doing this GoFundMe for my son, Joshua Coulombe. On May 11th (Mother's Day), a homeless man asked my son for a ride to his campsite in the woods. He was trying to carry a bunch of bags, just too much stuff to walk and carry, so he asked my son for a ride. This was in Orange, Mass. My son lives in Orange, and this was right in front of his apartment, so my son said, 'Sure, I'll give you a ride.' He put his bags in the bed of my son's truck and then got in the truck with his dog, and my son drove him to his campsite, which he said was only about 5 minutes from his house. When my son got to his campsite, he got out of the truck to help him get his stuff out of the bed, and he only took a few steps when the homeless guy (his name is Shaydee Tamayo) hit him upside his head with a big log. My son fell to the ground, and Shaydee jumped on top of him and just started punching him. My son said all he could see were stars and just pulled Shaydee into him (kind of hugging him) so he couldn't swing anymore. They both got up, and somehow my son got out of his grip and ran. He ran for his life and remembers passing 3 houses to drive into the woods, so he ran to those houses, banging on their doors and screaming, but no one would answer. My son was covered in blood. When he hit him with the log, he lost his hearing in his left ear; his ear was bleeding really badly, which just covered him in blood. Someone called the police, and the next thing my son knew, he saw the flashing lights and just collapsed in the middle of the road. They called an ambulance, and my son was taken to Athol Hospital. I got a call on Mother's Day at 9 pm telling me my son was hurt and at Athol Hospital. I immediately went to the hospital. When I got there and they brought me into his room, there was my son, crying and just really hurt, and he told me if he hadn't of run, Shaydee would have killed him. My son went out of his way to help this homeless man, and this is the thanks he got for giving him a ride. The police arrested Shaydee. My son has worked for Empire Management Co. in Gardner, Mass. for 10 years. He has now been out of work since this happened. He has no hearing in his left ear and went to an ear specialist, Dr. Dan Irving, on Tuesday, May 20th. Dr. Irving said he needed emergency surgery and that his eardrum was completely shattered. He had surgery the following day, which was yesterday. He still has no hearing out of his left ear. He doesn't know when he will be able to return to work and now has no income, which is why I decided to start a GoFundMe for him.

I want to add a few things about Shaydee that we found out after this incident. First off, Shaydee was out on five thousand dollars bail from Jan 2. (He should never have been released on bail), which is why there is now no bail, and he is not being released. I'm attaching the link to the article that shows what Shaydee did to the last person he attacked. This person is definitely a danger to society and should not be released, and if he hadn't of been released on bail, this wouldn't of happened to my son. This is the link.

I know the economy isn't very good, and I know a lot of people are struggling just to survive right now, so I greatly appreciate any amount anyone can give right now. I also appreciate just sharing my GoFundMe.

I want to thank all the support Joshua has received so far. Shaydee was a horrible person, but there are good people out there, and Joshua has always been a person who will help anyone.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Newslinklive.com did an article on what happened to my son.

That night at the er there was someone in a room near Joshua who required alot of police presence. After reading the article I now realize it was him, Shaydee.

I am adding a picture of Joshua's ear after surgery. They grafted some skin from his ear for his eardrum. It is very painful.
The overwhelming support for Joshua brought him to tears. This has been very traumatizing and I know this crushed his spirit and as a parent I do everything I can to help him. He didn't deserve this.
I can't thank everyone enough.
