Help Joshua get a new violin
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Amy Evers, and I am fundraising to help my student get a new violin. Joshua Berenguer (Lantigua) is a senior in my high school orchestra program. In October of 2021, literally 3 days before his Region Orchestra audition, Josh had a very serious car accident, where he had a head-on collision with an oncoming car. Amazingly, everyone involved survived with minor injuries, but the cars both caught on fire! His personal violin, bookbag, and school computer were all destroyed in the fire.
Even with a sprained wrist and lots of sore muscles, and using an unfamiliar school violin, Joshua auditioned that Saturday. He had only 2 days to familiarize himself with this violin, and to also get past the pain in his left (violin) arm. Remarkably, he was selected for the SC Region 3 Orchestra!
Josh has worked so hard this year in orchestra. He has spent his senior prep time, study halls, and after school hours in the orchestra room, practicing for numerous different events. In fact, he was leaving an extra after-school orchestra practice when he had his collision, which was why his violin was in the car.
After being selected for the Region 3 orchestra, Josh worked diligently to prepare his orchestral parts for Region, and for an audition for the district honors orchestra. He has continued to work hard on music for our school chamber orchestra, the many school orchestra events planned for this spring, and is even now preparing for college auditions. Joshua intends to minor in music in college, and needs to have his own violin to be able to play during college and after.
