Team USA Athlete: World Championship Qualifier: On My Way to Australia

Hi, my name is Joshua Blanchard and I’m a 17-year-old Triathlete. I am proud to represent Team USA this year in the 2025 World Triathlon Age Group Championships taking place in Australia. This is a huge lifetime goal of mine. I have worked hard towards this moment ever since I was a little kid. It's surreal to think I have a chance to compete on the world stage.

I was just six when I first stepped into the world of triathlons. What started as a fun hobby quickly turned into the foundation of my life and a passion that molded me into who I am today. As I got older I started taking the sport more seriously. Racing hundreds of times throughout my life to find the breaking point, to go further than I did the day before. Over these years of relentless training, early rising, grit and dedication I not only grew as an athlete but more so as a human being.

My journey came with its share of pain. Throughout the years there were times where the weight felt unbearable such as arriving in Des Moines IA at the age of 7 and finding out my race was cancelled, being sidelined by injuries and hand surgery, or being overcome with the feeling that I was not good enough and suffering the mental struggles that go along with that. Behind the finish line was emotional and physiological stress. But today I am older. I’ve fallen and gotten back up. I’ve slumped and finished anyway. And I’ve rebuilt. Stronger. Faster. Fitter. Somewhere between the pain and anger, I have found my inner strength. I have overcome what seemed to be impossible and faced so many challenges that go unseen, unappreciated. Now my goal is to push myself even further, seeing just how far I can go. My next challenge is the World Championship. I’m excited for the opportunity that I have to not only represent my country, but more importantly to honor all the countless hours of every hard fought mile that hides behind this story.

The money raised will help cover the cost of travel, insurance, competition fees, lodging (10 Days), and meals. There are also cost for getting my bike to Australia, race suits and USA kits. All donations are greatly appreciated.
