Help Josh and His Family Through a Medical Crisis

Josh has spent his life running toward emergencies to help others. Now his family needs help surviving one of their own. After a devastating medical diagnosis and a series of life-threatening complications, Josh’s ability to work and provide for his family has been suddenly taken away.

Josh is a Firefighter, Operator, Fire Instructor, and EMS professional serving the Westbank of New Orleans. In January 2025, he was diagnosed with brain stem demyelination, a serious neurological condition that disrupted communication between his brain and body, causing severe mobility issues. This diagnosis forced him to take an extended medical leave from the fire service.

Despite immediate treatment, Josh’s condition has worsened. By mid-2025, he required a cane, then full assistance with daily tasks. In August 2025, a new neurologist identified the root cause and began a new treatment plan.

On September 24, 2025, Josh suffered a life-threatening setback when he was hospitalized with toxic shock caused by a bowel perforation. He spent 11 days in the ICU and 34 days hospitalized, undergoing multiple surgeries and weeks of IV antibiotics, severely delaying his neurological recovery.

Josh is improving but still requires a walker for appointments and mobility around his residence. He continues to require frequent testing, MRIs, and specialized treatments.

On January 18, 2026, Josh’s medical leave ended, resulting in the full loss of income and medical insurance. Two days prior, his wife, who worked in clinical research for eight years, was unexpectedly laid off. They now have no income, no medical coverage, and two children at home.

Donations will help cover medical expenses, ongoing treatments, and basic living costs while Josh continues fighting to recover and return to serving his community.
Every donation gives Josh and his family breathing room, hope, and time, time to heal, time to recover, and time to believe they can get through this. If you’re able, please donate or share. Your support truly makes a difference.

Josh is continuing to fight through a serious neurological condition after months of hospitalization and multiple surgeries. While he’s slowly improving, his medical leave has ended, and both he and his wife have lost their jobs and health insurance, leaving their family with two children and overwhelming medical expenses.

If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser. Every share helps us reach someone who can. Thank you for standing with Josh and his family during this incredibly difficult time.
