On April 2,2024, my son Josh had to have emergency surgery, and now has a very long road to recovery ahead of him. As many of you know, Josh is a fitness instructor with Mixxedfit, and there's nothing he loves more than teaching. That's exactly what he was doing Monday night. He had very recently moved back to San Antonio and had already lined up several classes, to start teaching here again. He went from teaching, to being very sick with nausea and extreme abdominal pains, in a very short amount of time, and was barely able to drive himself home. We thought he might have food poisoning, or was possibly dehydrated, but after his symptoms only worsened throughout the night, we brought him to the emergency room the next day. After a scan of his abdomen was performed, we were stunned to find out we were dealing with a life - threatening situation. He had a perforated bowel, and it had ruptured and was leaking into his abdominal cavity. We have no idea how and when it happened, but all we can do is be thankful that we got him to the hospital when we did. He was in surgery within a couple of hours of getting to the hospital, and thankfully the surgeon was able to repair the tear then, as opposed to having to go back in later. He was heartbroken to learn that the recovery time for him will be 6-8 months... which is a lifetime in the fitness industry . He's young, and he's strong, and I know he's determined to do whatever it takes to get better and get back on his feet, but unfortunately being a fitness instructor doesn't come with medical insurance. So on top of not being able to work and do what he loves for several months, he now has the unexpected medical expenses of this surgery, and all that may come with it afterwards.
If you are able, any donations would be greatly appreciated. Any prayers and positive thoughts and energy are also appreciated. Please share this with anyone and everyone as well. He's going to need all the help he can get.
Please and thank you!
