My Mate Josh

I have a mate, that I have had for years,
He has been by my side through smiles, through tears.
A friend that one, could ask no better,
And a man of caliber to the letter.

As a father he takes most pride,
And through divorce, has taken in his stride.
It takes a special person to be able,
to go through divorce, then share a table.

What kind of man he is, i think this speaks alone,
and I hope as you read this, it sets the tone.
for all the things, he has shown his daughter,
Unselfish love for her, I know he's taught her.

If you asked me what this man deserves,
The entire world would be my answer,
but in the cruelest, most horrible twist,
Nope... He got Cancer.

Now depression didn't beat this man,
To hell if I think that cancer can,
He is strong, resilient and built with might,
And with the reflection of his daughter in his eyes,
by damned, he will fight.

He will get up and he will rebuild,
He will fight, he will not yeild,
But in a story where we get to make this right,
I ask you please,

through your donation,

join the fight.

Imagine reaching the happiest and brightest time of your life and having a complete curve ball thrown at you. This is the story of my mate Josh, aged 34 and diagnosed with Stage 3 Cancer.

Josh is a father that is active in his daughters life, raising a child amicably and respectfully with his ex-wife and team mate, together putting their daughter first.

He is a hard worker that has recently started his own business to bring him home close to his daughter and to build something for himself and his family.

Josh is a survivor of depression, being bitten by the black dog and a fighter that got the help he needed and came out the other side, happy and healthy.

Josh is a cancer patient.

Recently Josh was diagnosed with Stage 3 Bowel Cancer. For a loving young dad that absolutely adores every second of life spent with his little angel to be dealt this blow is absolutely gut wrenching. To have put in all that hard work to better yourself and put yourself in the best position possible just to have that rug pulled from under you is just not fair (my words not Josh's). Josh remains positive and is prepared to tackle this head on, and we as his friends and family are 100% prepared to stand by his side and help him do it! But we need more supporters.

See, Josh had only just started his business, investing everything he had into its success. Not knowing what was around the corner Josh did not have private health Insurance. Now with no sick leave (self employed), unable to work and the cost of expensive medical bills stacked on top of the cost of every day he is put in a tough position. Josh needs to start selling off anything he has, anything he could leave for his daughter, in a fight to let her keep her dad so he can build it all again.

I am asking for the kindness of Josh's friends, people who have met Josh out on site in the Pilbara and Goldfields (West Aus) working as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic, people who met Josh during his time working in IT, I am asking for the generosity of the people who knew Josh and that of strangers alike to please help this young man that deserves so much to fight this and get back on his feet.

Josh's Cancer is a bowel cancer that has been labelled as a "Large Malignant Mass" attached to the Cecum near where the appendix is located. If you draw a line from your right hip bone, to your belly button, the cancer is in the middle of those two points. Josh has surgery booked for the 17th May 2024 to have this Cancer removed along with the local lymph nodes and will then likely be facing Chemotherapy from there. He has a promising diagnosis from the doctors who are confident in a positive outcome and even the potential that he may not require a Colostomy bag post surgery.

Our starting goal is $25,000. This is what it has cost Josh so far in doctors appointments, Specialist appointments, CT Scans, Gastroscopy etc plus some money to start to go towards Surgey, Recovery and Living costs.
