Help Josh Thao beat cancer & medical expenses

Hi my name is Ka Lo. Our beloved Josh Thao was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. This GoFundMe will help Josh cover medical & living expenses.

Months ago, Josh Thao (YakJosh), elected to take himself to urgent care after coughing up some blood. At this time the doctors could not pinpoint the issue, and thought it could be an ulcer.

After running more tests, unfortunately, Josh was informed that he had colon cancer. The doctors determined that the cancer was spreading and an emergent surgery was required in order to save Josh’s life. Josh went in for surgery to have a section of his large intestine removed. The doctors have high hopes that by removing this piece of intestine that was riddled with cancer, it would stop the spread of this cancer. As of today, 9/2/2022, the surgery was successful and Josh is on the road to recovering.

For those that know Josh, not much is needed to be said about his character. For those that do not know Josh well, he is one of the happiest, chilled, and fun guy to be around. At 23, Josh has already established himself as a great diesel mechanic and fisherman. Josh spends a lot of his free time chasing various type of fish all over the rivers, lakes and ocean. Those that have been lucky enough to spend time with him know what a great person he is.

While Josh has made it through his first surgery, he has a long journey of recovery ahead of him. We all know that a major medical event in life can crush even the most established adults, let alone a young 23-year-old, who is just getting started in life.

Due to his declining health over the last few months, and visits to the hospital, Josh’s work has been severely impacted. While Josh is blessed with having some medical coverage, we all know a big burden is awaiting him in the way of medical bills.

We kindly ask that you consider making any donations through this go-fund-me to help alleviate some of the burdens on Josh, as he focuses on full recovery. Any amount would be greatly appreciated by Josh and his family, including prayers. All funds will go directly to medical and related expenses to help Josh weather the expenses above and beyond what insurance cost won’t cover. The go-fund-me account will be managed by his parents, Kou and Mai Thao, as Josh navigates through this difficult journey.
