Hi everyone,
My name is Josh. Four years ago, I proudly became an Italian citizen by descent, and ever since, it's been my dream to live in Italy—to experience life in my new country, connect with my roots, and build a future here.
Recently and unexpectedly, I found myself in Rome, taking the leap and beginning this new chapter. I’m here on my own, navigating the complexities of Italian bureaucracy (notorious for a reason!), and doing my best to build a stable life from the ground up.
I’ve managed to find work as a waiter in the historic center of Rome, which has been a huge step forward, and soon, I’ll be signing a formal work contract. This means I’ll be transitioning from daily wages to a monthly paycheck. Unfortunately, that creates a gap where I won’t receive another income for several weeks, just as I need to secure housing.
I've found a wonderful studio apartment that meets my needs perfectly—affordable, well-located, and available right away. But to move in, I need to cover the following costs upfront:
- First month’s rent: €700 ($808)
- Two months’ rent as a security deposit: €1,400 ($1,616)
- One-time agency fee (10% of annual rent): €840 ($970)
Total needed: €3,000 ($3463)
This is the final hurdle standing between me and the life I’ve worked so hard to begin here. I’m reaching out with humility and hope, asking for help from anyone who’s able to contribute—even the smallest amount will bring me closer to my goal.
Living in Italy has been my dream for years, and now that I’m finally here, I’m incredibly close. I just need a little help to cross the finish line.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting me in any way you can.
With gratitude,
Josh
