Josh's Ida Recovery Fund

Hi, my name is Alison and I'm raising money for our friend Josh Alba. He's a NYC native, lovable comedian, and one of the kindest hearted people I know. He's always willing to lend a hand when others need it (we're talking about a guy who VOLUNTEERS to pick people up at the airport - which I think qualifies him for sainthood). Josh has been a great friend to me over the years, and especially throughout covid. If you know Josh, you know he's a pretty independent, self-sufficient guy but this is a burden no one needs to shoulder alone.

During the disastrous floods from Hurricane Ida, his basement apartment in Queens was destroyed. He was asleep when the water started pouring in. Thankfully, he managed to grab his beloved Siamese cat Abel before escaping to safety. As the water levels rose throughout the night, there was nothing to do but wait. Ultimately, the water broke through his door completely, rose approx. 4 feet, effectively damaging almost everything he owns beyond repair.

The apartment will need to be gutted and restored. He has a place to stay for the time being, near me in his native Bushwick but will need help rebuilding all the other pieces of his life from scratch. Let's lend a hand to our pal and help him do that. All the money from this fundraiser will go directly to Josh. My organizing of this is purely to remove one less thing from his worry pile.

I'm starting this at $5k and may readjust the goal as Josh determines what his replacement costs will look like. I can update with more information as he figures out the details of what his needs will be, but for starters will need new furniture, computer, clothing, supplies for Abel, etc. This is all very fresh and there's still a lot to process. If you're able, any gift will help lighten this burden for a guy who would be first to help if it happened to anyone else.
