Joshua Bock Recovery Fund from Home/Van Fire
Donation protected
Joshua Bock, musician and artist, has been traveling, and living in an old van since 2016.
In the late morning of January 8th, his home, and everything in it, was completely destroyed by a fire. Josh, his friends, and his family are incredibly grateful for his and everyone’s safety. But he needs our collective help to get back on his feet.
Here is his story:
Joshua is originally from Chicago and is a multitalented artist, volunteer and teacher. In 2016 he bought an old '70s van he lovingly named Kevin and has been living on his own with nothing but Kevin and a whole lot of dreams. After spending a year in Nashville in Kevin, Joshua relocated to New Orleans, Louisiana. Unfortunately this past year Kevin was flooded several times during some harsh weather in NOLA. After many repairs and several break-ins, he decided it was time to let go of Kevin and start from scratch.
A little more than a month ago, he found another van which he quickly named Kirby. The day after Christmas, Josh and his dad drove all of his belongings from Chicago to New Orleans and packed up Kirby with everything that mattered to him.
On January 8th, a fire rapidly took away everything that had made Kirby a safe place. He lost his bed, two guitars, all of his clothes, his phone, computer, childhood memories, his new camera, and all of the belongings that made his van a home. Additionally, a few other cars were also damaged in the process, potentially making him liable for this freak accident. Though the fire took away Josh’s home, he did not lose his positivity.
In the news, you can see Josh through teary eyes express how grateful he is just to have survived. This Go Fund Me is to raise funds to help Josh get some of his home back and to help with legal and insurance fees. He has friends in New Orleans but his family is in Chicago and is doing everything they can to help. Any donation will help give Josh a chance to find footing in a time when he's most stranded.
Josh has always shown immense love and compassion for those around him and we want him to know that he is not alone during this harrowing time. If you decide to donate, any amount is a HUGE blessing. If you can only share right now, that's very important too. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
With big love,
The Bock family and the loving friends of Joshua
