On December 9, 2024, Josh Fields was involved in a horrific bicycle crash on his morning commute to work. We are raising money to help cover his medical expenses and lost income due to his inability to work during recovery.
An avid bicyclist, Josh takes every opportunity possible to ditch the car, save on emissions, and get some exercise on his commute to work in downtown Madison, WI. With Monday's afternoon high pushing 50 degrees, pedal power was the obvious choice. While taking a sharp left turn, a patch of ice, hanging onto the last minutes of morning chill, took the wheels out from under him. Josh was thrown to the concrete, immediately shattering multiple ribs.
Fueled by shock and adrenaline, Josh biked the rest of the way to work where he then called a friend to take him to urgent care. Every breath was sending searing pain through his entire body. Urgent care eventually sent him via ambulance to the ER. While getting blood drawn for testing, disaster struck and Josh's heart stopped for several seconds. The staff performed chest compressions and were able to bring him back to the land of the living, but unfortunately caused further damage to his fractured ribs.
Josh is now safe, recovering at home, and pushing through the pain. He is expected to make a full physical recovery, but needs YOUR help to recover emotionally and financially. His out-of-pocket expenses from the hospital visits, ambulance transfer, scans, and treatment coupled with future lost income from inability to work put him in a dire financial situation. All money raised here will go directly to Josh and his recovery.
I have had the unique pleasure to get to know Josh as a friend and a professional simultaneously. He is an extremely driven, dependable, and empathetic individual. Josh has been drumming since age 9 and is currently working on a full-length album with his "Progressive Pedalcore" band, Solshade. He has positively impacted countless lives of coworkers, fellow musicians, fans, and family around him. Let's return the favor!
