In November, Josh’s life changed instantly. While crossing Connecticut Ave in Norwalk, he was struck by a vehicle and was close to losing his life. He suffered severe trauma to his torso, and his left arm was nearly lost in addition to several broken ribs and head trauma from the impact. Doctors thankfully were able successfully reconstruct his arm and shoulder, but his recovery has been long and uncertain. He spent 10 days in a coma on a ventilator, and took almost three weeks after that to re-archive his full mental capability and remember what had happened. Because he had no identification on him at the time of the accident, he was admitted as an unidentified, uninsured patient. We didn’t even know where he was until we saw a local news post over 36 hours after the accident.
Josh spent over a month in the hospital and more than another month in rehabilitation. He was out of work for nearly four months with no income. As a carpenter, his livelihood depends on his physical strength, and he still cannot fully use his arm. On top of his medical crisis, he has recently faced housing insecurity, and his vehicle situation has fallen apart. His work van was towed after breaking down, and the daily impound fees made it impossible to recover. Without income, he had to let it go. Most recently, his personal car that had formerly belonged to his father before he passed away last January, also broke down and needs break replacements, leaving him currently without reliable transportation at all.
This has placed an overwhelming financial burden on him. We are hoping to raise at least $24,000 to help cover:
- Medical and ongoing rehabilitation-related expenses
- Lost income during recovery
- Rent, utilities, and groceries
- Supporting his family financially
- Transportation, including replacing the work van
Josh is a father of two sons and is known for his love of music and dance, and is always willing to help someone out himself. He has endured serious injuries before and always pushed through without asking for help. But this time is different. Between this accident, lost income, housing instability, and losing his transportation, it is simply too much to recover from alone.
If you are able to donate or share, it would mean everything to our family. Thank you for helping my son rebuild his life.
