Help Josh Rebuild After a Life-Changing Crash

On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, my brother Josh Nirenberg was in a terrible motorcycle accident.

Josh was on his way home from a meeting when something went terribly wrong. He has no memory of the crash, and there has been no security footage found. What we do know is that he was thrown from his bike and landed a significant distance away.

Josh suffered a broken ankle that required surgery and hardware placement, multiple fractures in his back, severe road rash across much of his body, and countless bumps and bruises. He was rushed to the hospital unconscious and admitted as a John Doe because his wallet was lost at the scene. By the grace of God, he did not sustain a head injury. Helmets save lives.

The past few days have been a whirlwind.

Josh underwent surgery the following morning to stabilize his ankle and is still foggy as he begins to piece together what happened. While we are incredibly grateful he is alive, the road ahead will not be easy.

To understand the weight of this moment, it helps to know what Josh has already been carrying. Over the past six months he has faced a job loss and multiple job transitions through no fault of his own, fighting every day just to keep his head above water. Now this accident has added another layer of uncertainty and hardship.

Because of these recent job changes, Josh currently does not have health insurance. The medical bills from surgery, hospitalization, and the long recovery ahead will be overwhelming.

Many people may not know that Josh also lives with cerebral palsy and has always favored his left side- the same side that sustained most of his injuries. This means he will likely require inpatient rehabilitation before he can safely return home and function independently.

There are also the very real logistics ahead: paying his rent while he recovers, boarding his beloved dog Bear while he’s unable to care for him, and eventually helping him navigate returning to his second-floor apartment once he’s strong enough.

Josh is incredibly lucky to have an amazing circle of friends and chosen family in Florida who have already shown up for him in big ways. But everyone has their own responsibilities and lives, and we’re hoping to soften the blow wherever we can.

We are humbly asking for help.

Every contribution, no matter the size, means more than we can adequately express. Even $5 can make a difference right now- whether it helps put groceries on the table, keeps a roof over his head, or eases the growing weight of medical bills during this incredibly difficult time.

If you’ve read this far, thank you. Your support, your kindness, and even simply sharing Josh’s story means the world to our family
