Hi! My name is Josh Davey, I am a 21 year old college student from Brookfield, WI. I graduated from Brookfield East High School, and now live in Minneapolis, MN where I am studying Music Education at UMN. This summer will be my third season marching in a drum corps that tours and competes as a part of the Drum Corps International (DCI) Circuit. For the past two seasons I have played baritone/euphonium for River City Rhythm based out of Anoka, MN. This summer, for my age-out season, I will be performing with the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps from Madison, WI.
Who are the Madison Scouts?
The Madison Scouts are one of the most storied and renowned corps in the activity. Founded in 1938, the two-time DCI champion ensemble was one of the original members of DCI and is the oldest active corps in its class. The Madison Scouts compete in the "World Class" division. This is the highest and most competitive level in the activity requiring the high school-college age membership to audition for the chance to earn a spot in the corps.
Since I started marching in high school, it has been a dream of mine to be able to join and perform as part of a world class corps, and as part of such a high level ensemble I will learn many strategies and techniques that I can apply to my future career as a teacher. Now, in my last year of eligibility (known as an Age-Out) the costs of marching are increasing, making it ever more difficult to make this dream into a reality. Tuition this summer for the Madison Scouts is $5900. My family and I are able to cover part of this amount on our own but I am looking to raise funds to help cover part of tuition, transportation to rehearsal camps, equipment of the summer (rehearsal clothes, sunscreen, mouthpiece, etc), and food on days off. Anything that you are able to give helps immensely and my gratitude is immeasurable.
