Help Josh Fight for Life

I’m Matthew. I’m fundraising for my friend of 25 yrs Josh. In short, Josh has lost the ability to provide for himself financially and is on the verge of losing his place to live, and have a simple quality of life. He needs assistance to pay monthly bills as he navigates the disability process and his terminal diagnosis.

After battling for years with diabetes, he has lost a large portion of his foot due to neuropathy and the onset of a rare and disabling disease known as Charcot. While the battle with Charcot seems to be stabilized currently, it leaves him in a great deal of pain and unable to be on his feet without crutches and a special boot. Last June he received news that he was in kidney failure and a terminal diagnosis. He has finally landed with a good medical team who has him on dialysis 3 times daily. He was about 48 hrs away from death just a few months ago until doctors came together to get him the care he needed. Sadly, Josh is not currently a candidate for kidney transplant. Although that may change, it is largely an unknown.

It saddens me greatly that this will ultimately be the end to an amazing, talented, funny and giving man. Josh was a social worker here in Larimer county Colorado for decades and helped so many people along the way, many were children. Working closely with grandparent caregivers who were raising children, he has impacted lives in a positive way. Josh spent many many hours above and beyond his job to fundraise and help these families. The man is tenacious, unrelenting and generous. He is a genuinely caring man who would do about anything for you even if he doesn’t know you. Today he needs some of that caring in return.
