Help Josh go to Law School @ NYU

Hey everybody!

-The Good News: I hustled hard, and got accepted into NYU’s Law School with a $90k scholarship!

-The Hard News: Even with a 90k scholarship, I’m gonna have to take out an estimated $210k in student loans. (This piled on top of all the medical expenses I have related to my fistulotomy fiasco)

-What I’m asking: Anything you can spare! Literally putting 5 on it makes a world of difference for me. I’m trying to raise 30k because that would put enough of a dent in my cost of attendance

for me to maintain until I graduate, and provide enough security for me to prioritize positions with firms and organizations from a place of dedication instead of desperation.

-Why I want to go to Law School: If you’re seeing this, you’ve probably seen a decent bit of this journey in progress — I’ve spent almost the past decade working in legislative policy & community planning/organizing for every kind of entity running the Gamut from CDCs and Municipal & State Governments to Nonprofits and University Fellowships. I helped write the resolution establishing the Mental Health Task Force under Councilman McCalister in Detroit, and bills to mandate social worker ratios in PA prisons under Summer Lee in the Pennsylvania House (where I also worked on legislation to impose an eviction moratorium during COVID, grant alternative sentencing for incarcerated mothers, limit police use of force, eliminate cash bail, and decriminalize sex work). I don’t always talk about my work on social media, but I love it, I’m passionate about it, and I’m proud of it; I would like to take it to the furthest extent I can.

I want to go to law school because I believe most social ails and disparities can be amended through policy change, and that is where I can best serve. I want to help build a framework for more sustainable, universally equitable, humane, and logical systems of governance; to sow seeds with roots we can be proud of.

-Why you should donate: If you earnestly believe that I would be a beneficial contribution to the legal field, that my practice could be a boon to people in the future and/or you want to see me succeed, you could help make my dream come true for the price of a coffee!

-What I can offer in return: Besides whatever material good comes from my legal practice, I wanna make it clear that I’m willing to exchange some kind of service for support. Namely, Portraits (although, I’m down to take other requests for personalized tracks or mixes or something too?) I attached some examples! Let’s say $50+ and I’ll give you a line drawing. (message me about watercolor ones). Also! When I can legally practice, if you message me questions, I’ll try to answer them and I’ll be real attentive about it.
