Help Josh Fight Acoustic Neuroma

Hello,

My name is Travis and I have set up this GoFund me for my younger brother Josh, in the hopes that he can find support from his family and friends as he prepares for surgery to remove a non-cancerous brain tumor.

In October, Josh was diagnosed with acoustic neuroma, a rare and challenging condition where a tumor develops on the vestibular nerve, which is responsible for transmitting sound and balance information from the inner ear to the brain. Josh is set to undergo surgery on December 19th to remove the tumor, followed by an extended hospital stay and multi-month recovery process.

Josh’s diagnosis came after he became fed up with the nonstop ringing in his left ear. After bringing this up with his primary care provider and being referred to an ENT, an MRI revealed a 2.6cm diameter tumor on his vestibular nerve. Given the large size of the tumor, he was immediately referred to neurosurgery to begin planning out his treatment. In working with his care team, Josh has decided to move forward with surgery as quickly as possible to avoid further complications that could stem from additional tumor growth.

Facing this unexpected health challenge has been incredibly tough for Josh. There is no “good” time to receive a brain tumor diagnosis, but Josh just started a new job and now that he needs this surgery, he won’t be able to work for at least a few months. Potentially longer. We also won’t know exactly what therapies Josh will need until his surgery is over and we can assess the impact that the surgery has had on him.

Josh has always been one of the most caring, selfless people I’ve known, even since he was a little kid. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, and now I’m hoping that this page will allow his friends and family to help Josh take on this difficult fight.

The funds raised will firstly go directly towards covering Josh’s medical expenses, including the surgery and hospital stay, and making sure that he has access to the best post-operative care to help him make a full recovery. Your contribution will make a tangible difference in ensuring he receives the best possible treatment.

Additionally, I hope to raise enough to help him with some of his month-to-month expenses, since he won’t be able to work for an unknown amount of time.
